Lucene 3.1 Release Proposal
Shai Erera 2011-01-16, 16:58
Hi
After some discussion on IRC, I'd like to propose we release 3.1 soon. We've always said we should release more often than we do, and 3x, being the stable branch, is the perfect candidate. We've created a 3.2 version in JIRA, and started to re-assign 3.1-marked issues. If you have any issue you'd like to get into 3.1, please re-assign it back (but, note the tentative release date below).
A tentative release date for 3.1 would be March 1st (yyyy.3.1). Given that the next 3.1 (date) will be in 2012 only (and we cannot be sure about 2013 at all ...), let's try to make it to this year's :).
What do you think?

What does this mean?

+1.
I would really really prefer that if possible, we issue a Solr 3.1 release at the same time.
We can test everything at once, this should just be a matter of packaging things correctly for the users.

Jason, it was just my (obviously weird) humor. Let's aim at March 1.
Robert, you're right. I should have written a Lucene/Solr 3.1 release.
