Windows is a supported platform.  That being said, what steps did you do prior to running bin/mahout?  Also, please ask on [EMAIL PROTECTED].

Finally, 0.4 is quite out of date.  You might consider upgrading to 0.7 first.

WIndows works fine, but requires a few hacks for Hadoop to work,
because Hadoop insists on doing file system operations which it does
not need to. But if you can run a Linux virtual machine in your PC,
your life will be much easier.
