Right. However, there was at least one critical fix in trunk that hasn't been merged over. Plus at the moment trunk builds, works, and passes all tests. Since its our first release, might as well release the best we have.

+1 Related to the (non-functional) reasons not to release, I'm sure there may be a few. I can also understand the reasoning behind aiming for a perfect release. On the other hand, we have to take stock of the fact that this release process has been ongoing for a while now, and a perfect first release will postpone things more. Doing this release now rather then later, especially after years of 0.1, will preserve the existing momentum and will provide the experience necessary to do a better 0.2 release, of course assuming the minimal Apache standards are being met and the release goes forward. It will also allow 0.2 work to continue, which is the whole point. No, the release will not be as good as it would be if another month of careful work and cleanup goes into it, but at the end of the day it will be hugely better than no release at all. Release early release often indeed. Eugen. Glad to hear. Personally, I'm not happy with the actual release artifacts. I should have paid closer attention when generating them. If anyone has feedback on what needs to change in the release artifacts, that would be great.
I've already fixed the missing license headers in trunk.
I've moved the code modules out of trunk that aren't referenced in the root pom.
I will do a clean checkout so there isn't extra SVN crap in the source file.
The one piece that is still missing is moving the website out of trunk. If this isn't done, we're shipping our website in the source archives that are made available for download.

Sorry for such a question, but I'm not sure to understand why we need a zip for the source release, since we already have the jars generated by the maven source plugin. About the site, the trunk contains the forrest documentation and the foundation for using the maven site plugin (src/site). It seems that storing the site in the src folder is a common practice but if the source archive is required, having two sites in it is not good.
